Bangor University, HOGsoc (Horticulture Organic Gardening Society)

Published on Jun 15, 2012
HOGsoc, invites all the local students to create a wonderful organic harvestable garden. Some students have never had the chance to do gardening, and in this allotment style of their own it’s a great way to get involved with a new environmental/conservation project, plus there is produce to be taken away at the end. During each year, organic gardening skills and environmental skills are also learnt such as species ID, season/beds rotation and most importantly health and safety.
The Horticultural Organic Garden Society is a student-led community garden, to grow local produce from seeds and donations. It allows students to get their hands dirty, learn new skills and meet likeminded people, while helping the environment and producing organic food for the students to eat and enjoy.
This video shows what happends at a HOGsoc work party in different seasons and times from the 1st year to current day!
